IT'S ALL ABOUT THE EXPOSURE• the lens i told her • Avery went into the photography wing, camera and laptop in hand. She'd been down at Abby Lake for a few hours, and she wanted to develop the shots she'd taken. She had a much easier time concentrating when she was here, around all the equipment. Sometimes it even inspired her. She sat down and uploaded the pictures onto her laptop, and then set her camera aside. As the pictures popped up, she spotted the one she'd taken of Oliver Warren before she'd headed back. A smile appeared on her face. She clicked on it and made it bigger. Now that she thought about it, that might have been the last time she got to see him. She'd totally humiliated herself by asking him out on a date.
He was gorgeous and smart and funny, and an actor. And she was just some plain photographer who blended in with the crowd. It would be a miracle if things worked out between them. And even then, they probably wouldn't stay together forever. That only happened in books and movies. Real life wasn't that easy, and she knew that. She sighed and began to edit it. Avery wished, now more than ever, that she had someone to talk to. But she didn't have very many friends, and she didn't know if she trusted anyone enough to confide in them. She had no experience with guys, and she didn't know which way was up right now. If only someone could guide her.

LET'S WRITE A SONG THAT WE CAN DANCE TO - - - - - cause they all wanna listen - - - - - Allesandra laughed as girls protested getting their picture taken because they supposedly 'looked like shit'. She couldn't understand why people spent so much time putting on make up and all of the sorts and still continue to say that they looked horrible. So she purposely snapped a few unflattering images that she would make sure to include in the school's year book. Just for kicks. Allesandra was one to never me mean or rude or hold grudges or even dislike people but girls like those were the reason to why she had more guy friends than girls. And it wasn't that she hated them, she just wished that girls weren't so 'oh my gosh like i look horrible blah blah blah blah' it made her get a headache with their constant whining and bitching. Not that she didn't complain once in a while but hearing it from others constantly was something she just couldn't handle. She often called her self a hypocrite for that same reason but honestly Allesandra just didn't care. Actually, she barely cared about what anyone thought. What was the point on constantly worrying other people's opinions after all?
What was it about people that made them so obsessed with what people thought about each other. Of course Ale used to be like that, that was no secret but she had changed even if people didn't believe that, but it was true. That's why she was flad to have a friend like Zack because he was sort of like her.. in a few ways. He was ust one of the people that put up with her no matter what she did. Allesandra could have been acting like a complete idiot but he'd still be standing by her side. But they got along easy and that was hard to come by with other people. It wasn't supposed to be difficult for her to go up to a person and know that she was going to make a friend easily. Secretly this girl was crazy insecure. But for some reason Allesandra couldn't understand why. Back home she was bubbly and open about everything and now there was only a few certain people that could really understand her quirky and sometimes annoying ways.
Laughing as she looked through her recent pictures Ale turned into the Photography Wing of St. Thomas, carefully and strategically dodging all the people who walked the hallways without even glancing up even once. She had grown so accustomed to this place that she knew the way like the back of her hand. It wasn't long before she quietly slipped into one of the classrooms noticing Avery sitting at the other side of the room. She was one of Ale's few but still existant friends that actually happened to be a girl. They were alike yet really different in so many ways that it was incredibly hard to describe but it totally worked for these two. She tip toed in to the room, careful so the clicking from her shoes wasn't her. Lifting her camera from the strap that kept it around her neck and snapping a picture so Avery would be aware of her presence before going into a whole idiotic photographer mode and started to take more pictures. "Oh I love that. Now pout for me baby, pout like your life depends on it." she said before bursting out laughing. Alex neared the table where Avery was and took a seat next to her. "Well, well, well if it isn't my favorite photographer in the whole wide world."

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE EXPOSURE• the lens i told her • Avery was still focused on the picture of Oliver on her computer screen. She sighed and wished she was with him. She had wanted to keep talking to him, but she'd had to leave the lake eventually to get ready for the next day. She had some photos due. She didn't notice Allessandra sneaking in with her camera. Suddenly a clicking sound and a flash caught her attention though. She looked up to see Ale standing close to her and snapping more pictures. "Oh I love that. Now pout for me baby, pout like your life depends on it." Avery chuckled and gave her a wry smile before speaking. "I'm surprised I didn't break your camera." Jokes like that were jokes Avery made a lot. She didn't consider herself anything special, beautiful.
Everyone who didn't know her said so, and she accepted it. Over the years, she hadn't gotten too many compliments, and she wasn't used to hearing them. She brushed them off and made them seem like the most horrible lie. Avery closed her laptop and pushed it away, not wanting to keep obsessing over the amazing boy she'd met earlier. Allessandra laughed and then sat down next to her. "Well, well, well if it isn't my favorite photographer in the whole wide world." Avery grinned at that. "Why thank you. I try," she joked. Her smile faded a little. "Allessandra, can I talk to you about something?" she asked. If anyone could listen and help her out, it was her best friend. Avery trusted her more than anyone else right now. After Allessandra gave her the cue to continue, she spoke again.
"I met this guy. His name's Oliver...he goes here, you might know him. He's really sweet and...he's just great." His face appeared in her mind, and a smile lit up her face. "We sort of...have a date. I just feel like he's out of my league," she finished, mumbling the last part, but enough for her to hear. She was almost afraid to look up. Allessandra would probably tell her she was crazy. Maybe she was, but that was the way her mind worked.

LET'S WRITE A SONG THAT WE CAN DANCE TO - - - - - cause they all wanna listen - - - - - That was so typical of Avery. Alex couldn't understate why she always underestimated herself. The girl was gorgeous and yet she refused to acknowledge it. Avery was always brushing off the cute and sweet compliments that she got and that would forever remain a history to Ale. Then again she was the type of girl to take compliments gracefully, then again she was extremely confident in herself. Sometimes a little too confident though. ”Don't be silly Avery. You're so pretty. My camera is honored to be able to photograph such a lovely lady like yourself.” She said a smile on her face as she rested her chin on her palm and in the other hand she held her camera looking at the recent shots again.
”Oh yeah, I think I've heard of him. Just a bit though” Alex nodded a bit, trying to get a mental picture of Oliver. She knew who he was, actually Alex knew just about all the photography students at St. Thomas. She sort of acted like a welcome wagon with new students so she wouldn't be surprised if she had ever met Oliver at one point or another. ”A date? Like with dinner and stuff? Oh my goodness. Avery you totally have to let me help you get ready. You'll look so gorgeous that Oliver's jaw will drop to the floor. Please, please, please!” If it was one thing Allesandra loved it was getting ready for dates. She just loved it all. Choosing outfits, hair and makeup. It was all so fabulous in her opinion.
And since it had been a while since Ale had been on a date of her own she figured this would be fun. Dating, impressing boys and having boyfriends had never been much of a big deal to her. Actually she was the girl who usually had loads of guys as best friends instead of boyfriends. She was girl, she though she was pretty enough and she was more than aware that guys liked her but she never made a big deal about it. ”Now Avery listen to me. No guy is out of your league. You are a beautiful and strong woman that needs to take control of your own person.” Alex said, the girl was practically a self proclaimed self help book.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE EXPOSURE• the lens i told her • Avery knew that Ale didn't understand her, because she was actually gorgeous. Avery paled in comparison to her friends. But that was simply how she saw herself, and it would be that way for a while, unless someone could truly convince her. She doubted that would happen though. Once she believed something, no one could change her mind. ”Don't be silly Avery. You're so pretty. My camera is honored to be able to photograph such a lovely lady like yourself.” A blush covered her face, and she watched Ale lean on her hand and smile. "Thanks, Al," she said, smiling a little at her friend. She realized how lucky she was to have someone like Ale. She could tell her anything. Avery was glad that Ale knew who Oliver was, even if it wasn't much.
She turned her computer toward Ale and showed her the picture of Oliver. "This is him," she said, making sure they were both thinking of the right person. After all, there were a lot of people at the academy. But as soon as she'd uttered the word date, Ale went insane. ”A date? Like with dinner and stuff? Oh my goodness. Avery you totally have to let me help you get ready. You'll look so gorgeous that Oliver's jaw will drop to the floor. Please, please, please!” She groaned and covered her face with her hand. "God, what have I done?" she muttered, half kidding. Ale knew what she was doing, but Avery would only get even more nervous about her date if she looked gorgeous. All the attention would be on her, and she hated getting too much attention.
But she didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, so she spoke again. "Okay, okay, fine. You can help me get ready." She waited for the moment Ale would jump ten feet in the air and screamed. No doubt she would be excited about the whole thing. At the mention of Oliver being out of her league, Ale tried to talk some sense into her, which was probably a good thing. ”Now Avery listen to me. No guy is out of your league. You are a beautiful and strong woman that needs to take control of your own person.” Avery sighed and smiled again. "Alright, I believe you. And you're right, as usual," she added. She did need more confidence, she knew that. It was just so hard because she didn't get that much attention from anyone. She blended in very well, and she'd never been on a date before.
