scorpius released another laugh as raegan nott retreated up into her dormitory for the night. the two had been laughing about everything, and just that had made it so much harder not to let her in on the truth. his life was soon becoming like an episode of a soap opera - he kept so many secrets from everyone, and eventually he was just going to explode. at least then, everyone would know who scorpius malfoy was - and it wasn't the spawn of draco malfoy. he looked like him, yes, but the personality differences were enormous. he didn't care much about blood status, although it made him self-conscious for one reason or the other. he had grown up knowing that he was supposed to be superior to other people, so even though he tried his best to be fair to everyone, some of that stuck with him. one of those people who understood him was emeline bletchley, a very good friend of his that he hadn't seen in forever. not literally, of course. but with the amount of time he was spending with raegan and sneaking away to see lily, well, things were more complicated than he would have liked, and his time to spend with his other friends ran short. running a free hand through his mess of blonde hair as he pulled the entrance door open, scorpius quietly snuck out of the slytherin common room nearly without a sound. he nearly laughed at the thought; he was a snake for a reason. scor could sneak in and out of anywhere and go completely undetected. he had used this to his advantage tonight by going to pay a visit to emeline, who he had beforehand sent an owl letter to. hopefully, she would be in her dormitory to recieve it.
scorpius had run into a few prefects before when he had snuck out, but even then they had let him go - many of the prefects were friends of his as well, if not only acquaintances. to say that he had connections would probably be an overstatement - scor knew people, but that never guaranteed anything. unlike his father, scorpius didn't expect to be let off the hook. professor snape wasn't here anymore, so scorpius malfoy didn't have any connections to get him out of trouble when he couldn't do so himself. he was the presumed prince of slytherin, which technically gave raegan a pretty fair title of princess. socially, that gave her a good bit of power over her peers, which may have been one of the reasons that emeline didn't like raegan all that much. usually, scor tended to avoid the topic of raegan whenever the two spent time together to furthermore avoid conflict between himself and one of the best friends that he had. scorpius and emeline had quite a long history together - she had come to his house when times with her parents had gotten hard, and scorpius was always there to welcome her into the malfoy manor. he hated it there, just him and his parents, so any visitors were usually welcome. a really good friend, though, was welcomed far more than that, and not only because he couldn't stand his parents. any particular time emeline was in trouble, scorpius felt inclined to help in any way possible. he considered her his best friend as much as he did with raegan, (although that was an entirely different situation in itself) and if she was in trouble, scorpius knew he had to help. they would have probably done the same for him, and although it was more along the lines of guesswork, scor was pretty sure that it came with being a good friend.
as he neared the edge of the lake, scorpius looked towards the castle doors, expecting to see a flash of dark hair at any moment. scor knew he would miss times like this when he would be married to raegan. now, the two of them just ran around and had their fun. when they were married, though, scorpius refused to be like other pureblooded men - he wasn't a fan of affairs, and he couldn't be that horribly unfair to his soon-to-be wife. scorpius was tempted to tell emeline tonight - but only because scorpius knew that he could trust her with that kind of information. it definitely couldn't get around the school; even though it was expected for them, scorpius still wasn't sure how the overall take of it would be. his parents and hers were ecstatic - and they should have been, considering the status they had gotten as a 'power couple'. scorpius wasn't overly proud of the influence he had on other people, but to say that it wasn't an advantage would be a complete and total fib. running another hand through his hair, scorpius leaned against the tree and looked once more towards the castle in hopes of spotting emeline. without any luck, scor headed back into the train of thought that hadn't left him alone since he had gotten his parent's owl. after he had gotten the letter, scorpius had requested to be sent home for a day, which had been surprisingly granted. obviously the headmaster knew what was going to happen, otherwise he would have been declined. possible rings had been reviewed that day, as well as the engagement party. the option of telling raegan would be left up to scorpius, and in the end he had decided for it to remain a surprise, which would be revealed at the party whenever he stopped dancing with her and got down on one knee with the ring. it looked like it would be from a muggle film, but scorpius wanted things to be perfect. the fact that his crush on lily had began to diminish as his love for raegan started to come back simply couldn't have been a coincidence. scorpius was just hoping that the engagement wasn't the only reason. he also hoped that emeline showed up soon - and that scorpius could hopefully confide in her about everything that was buzzing around in his head at the moment.
