"The year is 2988; humanity, as we know it, is lost..."
Nearly two decades after humanity had lost the war has passed. Those humans that considered themselves lucky enough to be alive on the surface have gone rouge; forced to hunt like scavengers and prey off the weak. Far pass the ruins of the cities, and the battleground where humanity made it's last stand, sits a huge empire of metallic buildings; home to a race of sentient machines responsible for the near destruction of humanity. Their ambitions are simple; take what they can and destroy the rest.
But, in their haste they underestimated the will humanity possessed to survive. Alongside an advanced race of intellectuals called the Paragons, able to share memories and experiences, the humans were able to pick up the scraps of their destruction in a large hidden city space called the Underground. Here they work together with the Paragons to discover how to win back their world. Unable to sustain the sort of numbers for a physical fight, the remaining humans have been forced to construct research that would provide their answers.
Determined to take back their world or die trying, it's only a matter of time before the second confrontation begins. Hunted by the machine race and their constructed servants, the Lazarus, humanity strives to piece together the life they had once known and a way to survive the genocides that have taken place many centuries before their own.
