 In the year 2020, a war broke out that decimated the planet and killed many including many well-known and well-loved superheroes whose names are now engraved on a memorial wall just like what was done for the soldiers of Viet Nam. The war lasted for ten years as they fought valiantly to save the world from not only the enemies of old, but from a new enemy that had crept up quietly out of the darkness and devoured the light. Finally defeated, the dark entity was sent back from whence it came and all hoped and prayed that it would never rear its ugly head ever again. The following years were spent rebuilding, replenishing the earth and trying to return to a semblance of normalcy and happiness.
It took ten more years to rebuild the earth and return it to its once beautiful glory. In that time, many other heroes passed away or faded into the background. Some retiring to other planets, other dimensions and galaxies, while others just simply vanished, never to be seen or heard from again. During this time, more mutants were born. These mutants more powerful, more unique than any that had ever been seen before. The earth experienced a time of peace for the next twenty-one years, only having to deal with the normal skirmishes and career criminals that still walked the streets. But, peace as it always ends up being, was fleeting. A new group has risen up from the ashes to take up the old belief that mutants shouldn’t be allowed to exist, that they are an abomination, servants of the devil. The religious fervor behind this stemming from one man and spreading like wildfire.
Now a new group of heroes have emerged. The children born in those years of war and strife, in the years of peace and prosperity and all have banded together to fight not only this newest foe, but against any threats to the world or to mutant kind. All knowing too well that history repeats itself time and time again and that this will end in yet another war. Will you join the ranks of the new heroes and fight against them? Or will you become a villain and aid the enemy? Will you be a part of the renegade forces that are out for their own gain as well as looking out for the weak and helpless? Will you stand up and raise your fists in the air and say that you are not going to take it any more, that you’ve had enough. That you have the right to exist just the same as anyone? Or will you just sit and do nothing, watch the world go down in flames? |
