i'm bringing sassy back and everything that you thought - YOU CAN'T FORGET CAUSE Y'ALL KNOW NOTHING BUT MY NAME AND I DON'T WANNA HEAR ABOUT PEOPLE - I DON'T KNOW NOT YOU NOT HIM NOT HER NO YOU ONLY SEE WHAT I LET YOU SEE NOTHING LESS NOTHINGMORE WHAT YOU SAY IS NOTHING NEW TO ME. bryonie couldn't believe her luck. usually she wasn't the type to bear grudges, but she made a special exception for alexa sawyer, a fellow fashion student and bitch extraordinaire. the kind of girl bryonie usually made a point not to socialise with, but apparently fate had other ideas. her fashion teacher had set a project with the theme of 'summer fashion' and already bryonie's imagination was running away with nautical stripes and animal prints, she couldn't decide which, and of course, funky sunglasses and bright colours, a cutesy summer day and an edgier summer night, her mind had run away. but she came crashing back when the teacher announced that the project would be completed in pairs she had already selected. still, bryonie could work with anyone. just about anyone. but her luck was out and the teacher read her name out, followed by alexa sawyer. bryonie clenched her teeth and blinked hard. she bit her tongue to hold back any rude comments, but couldn't help a slight protest. "miss edwards, please. alexa? really? i mean, for the sake of the project, would it be possible to switch partners?"
she shot a glance over at alexa, sure she was having the same reaction about the thought of working together. no surprises there. "i'm afraid so, bryonie. keep whatever personal differences you and alexa have out of the classroom and away from the project. i don't expect anything less than both of your usually high standards." bryonie sat back in her seat and rolled her eyes. it was typical. miss edwards knew that bryonie and alexa didn't exactly see eye to eye - it wasn't that they were particularly verbal towards each other, but there was a definite tension when they got too close, something that didn't happen often. even so, everyone picked up on it. the two just weren't put together. they sat at opposite sides of classrooms, hung out with different people, the whole hog. but no, apparently not anymore. maybe miss edwards thought this would be a neat little bonding project; the pair were both deep into fashion and this was a common interest, force them to work together and they would make up and be friends and they would all live happily ever after. what a load of bull. bryonie couldn't even remember why she disliked alexa so much, but that wasn't the point. this was one grudge she had to bear. the pair had been like this since they had first met, bryonie wasn't going to just quit now and shake hands over it. then alexa would just pounce. you couldn't show that you were weaker. it was the same with lions, right? although alexa was much more of a lion than bryonie was, she wasn't going to back off that quickly. grudgingly though, bryonie decided to be the bigger person, and when everyone had been told who they had to work with on this project and started moving about to sit together, bryonie picked up her bag and moved over to alexa. she wasn't going to be her best friend but she certainly wasn't going to get a bad grade in the one class she actually put effort into, alexa or no alexa. so she threw her bag down on to the seat next to alexa and deliberately sat one seat away from her, just to show that even though she had gotten up and moved to alexa, she wasn't exactly her best friend. she figured a little speech was in order. "okay, so let's get one thing straight. i don't want a bad grade on this project and i'm figuring you don't either. so lets quit the bitching until we're done this project. keep the hate in until later. whatever. be civil." she paused and raised an eyebrow at alexa. "or as civil as you can manage." point made, she sat back again. alexa could do the talking. they would share ideas, grudgingly no doubt, then argue over what to do, then get down to some designing. bryonie and alexa were both focused on fashion and two of the best in the class, so it made logical sense to pair them together, and if they actually worked togther bryonie figured they'd make something amazing. if they actually worked together. that was a pretty big if.[/blockquote][/blockquote] ALEXA SAWYER. - - LIKE HOW MUCH YOU WANTED ANYONE BUT ME; said you'd never come back, but here you are again - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Alexa sat in the back of the classroom, her usual spot for her design class. She was convinced that the isolation helped her muse, and in a way it kind of did. Hence why she was furiously sketching something that had just came to her. Not to forget she was trying to ignore the words of the teacher. Miss Edwards was definitely the best teacher that she had ever had. The woman practically idolized her. The only problem was that there was someone else. Someone who Alexa honestly could not even stand. Bryonie. There was just something about that girl that completely irked her, she just couldn't exactly put her finger on it. Honestly, she didn't even know why she loathe the girl so much but that wasn't the point now was it. Sure there was a select few who would say that Alexa was just envious of Bryonie's artistic ability. If anyone how told her that to her face, that person would probably need a cast on their nose. It wasn't often that Lex got violent but there was just a few..several times where she lost her temper, which was understandable if you really knew Alexa. She was in no way at all jealous of Bryonie. She had to reason to be anyways. All the girl was was a little competition, and Lex very much enjoy competition.
For as long as she could remember Alexa had always tried to be the best at everything she did. She hated the fact that there could always be someone who was better at doing what she loved. In her mind she had to be successful at something to be liked. If she was just like everyone else then there was no difference in how you were to be treated. Just another face in the crowd per se. Alexa was practically obsessed with how she was treated. Ever since the moves from foster homes started she knew that there was someone out there good enough and she had found them thankfully before she screwed up her life. There was a few times where she was tempted to give up completely and was about to turn out like 'the bad kids' that she met in temporary homes. But she had found something she really cared about and someone who really cared about her. So it all worked out in the end right?
This was ridiculous. Out of all the people she could have been paired with she was stuck with Bryonie. What kind of cruel fate was this? Alexa would have rather been paired up with the creepy kid who smelled of cheese instead of her. Alexa was just about to get up and completely disagree to the whole idea of being partners but it looks like Bryonie had beat her to the punch. It was weird to say that for once she actually agreed with the girl. But sadly it was nothing but wasted effort. They were stuck together and that was the end of that, but this didn't mean that Alexa wasn't going to stop from getting things to go her way. Sure she was no paired with someone she truly disliked but she was more than sure that the only way that they would get a good grade together was if they took on correct direction, that direction being of her choosing obviously.
The girl eventually came over and sat by her, although she did sit one seat away from her Lex didn't mind at all actually. Just because they had to work together didn't mean they had to like each other. All they had to do was get through this project in one piece. They could quickly get something figured out and then go off to their separate ways once again. So far it seemed pretty okay that is until she finally started talking. Alexa rolled her eyes as Bryonie went off into her little 'we're going to get along whether you like it or not because i don't want to fail' speech. Instead of actually listening though Alexa reached into her bag for her design book. Always being one step ahead of everything Lex had already given the project some thought. She opened it to one of the pages, a few final drawings on the page and several fabric swatches were paperclipped on to it as well. "How about you stop talking for like fifteen seconds and take a look at this. I was thinking about going with bright stripes. Like orange, or maybe even a bright teal. Lots of white too because..well I don't really know but I like white." she said pointing to the different swatches. Alexa didn't want to sound bossy at all, she just knew what she wanted.

i'm bringing sassy back and everything that you thought - YOU CAN'T FORGET CAUSE Y'ALL KNOW NOTHING BUT MY NAME AND I DON'T WANNA HEAR ABOUT PEOPLE - I DON'T KNOW NOT YOU NOT HIM NOT HER NO YOU ONLY SEE WHAT I LET YOU SEE NOTHING LESS NOTHINGMORE WHAT YOU SAY IS NOTHING NEW TO ME. bryonie couldn't help but to roll her eyes as alexa told her to shut up and pulled out her design book. of course miss kiss up knickers had already started on the project. well if she needed the extra help, bryonie wasn't going to stop that. she laughed in her head at her own joke - that couldn't be a good sign, but it was better than voicing the joke and getting herself in trouble. she wanted to at least attempt to keep this project civil. and she knew the only way to make that happen would be to agree with alexa. at least on the things that she liked. if they purposely just disagreed with each other the entire time, to prove a point, then nothing would get done and they would both fail. this was one class bryonie couldn't afford to fail. and so she leaned over and looked at alexa's book, somewhat grudgingly, and listened to her talking. and, surprising herself, she nodded her head. "yeah, i like the orange. orange and white stripes, like this?" bryonie reached into her own bag and pulled out a collection of fabric swatches that she always took to design class, and pointed at the one alexa had made her think of.
"maybe use it for a loose fitting shirt? maybe a polo shirt? with high waisted shorts, light denim .. knee high socks, those are so cute .."
bryonie trailed off, the cogs in her mind whirring. mybe this partnership wasn't so bad after all. in a minute they'd agreed on orange, and white - white was the constant summer colour, after all - and bryonie had thought up an entire outfit and just had to run it by alexa first. she opened her design book and pulled a pencil out from behind her ear - hidden by her thick hair, it was a pretty good place to store pencils during design class, since you always needed a pencil on hand - and started sketching quickly, trying to get a rough idea of the outfit onto the page to show alexa before she had a chance to disagree. a loose fitting shirt, with tight high waisted shorts, bryonie's favourite knee high socks and it was simple but brilliant. she pushed it over to alexa and pointed at the swatch. "the shirt in that fabric, and the denim in -" she flicked through swatches quickly, knowing she had some denim ones somewhere. "- this light one here, maybe? it should be light, because that's summery, yeah? what do you think?" taking over wasn't what bryonie had planned, but once she had an idea she had to blurt it out and get it down on paper and clear it out in her mind otherwise it might vanish and then she'd have lost a good idea. it had happened before and it infuriated her no end. she shut her mouth now, and waitied to hear alexa's opinion. no doubt alexa wouldn't take kindly to bryonie snatching her orange stripes idea and making it her own, but she wasn't really. it might come across like that but bryonie had only intended to make alexa's good idea better and finish the outfit. she just got a bit enthusiastic when it came to fashion and designing. it was something she was good at, and something she was determined to succeed in. she lived and breathed fashion; her own home was constantly littered with swatches and fabrics and half made skirts and shirts and page after page of designs that were and weren't going to hit the cat walk and glossy photographs of the latest trends, not to mention shoes and bags and necklaces and bracelets. stuart might be a fashion stylist but he made a lot of clothes too, and liam's modelling kept them all firmly up to date with the trends. fashion was the driving force in bryonie's life. "any other ideas?" she asked alexa, wanting to make sure she didn't push her out and take over the project, not intentionally, but through sheer enthusiasm. she was sure alexa had the same enthusiasm and that one taking over was just impossible, because the other wouldn't sit back and watch, but just in case alexa thought she was trying to, bryonie didn't want any hostility this soon into the project.[/blockquote][/blockquote] ALEXA SAWYER. - - LIKE HOW MUCH YOU WANTED ANYONE BUT ME; said you'd never come back, but here you are again - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - And just like that, Alexa was already kind of convinced that this wasn't going to be so bad. But this definitely didn't mean that they were going to be best friends all of the sudden. Like they had said earlier, they could work together but they didn't have to like each other, but that there was nothing in there about liking each others ideas and Alexa had to admit that Bryonie did have really good ideas right now. Even things she hadn't given a second thought about because in her opinion she thought it would look kind of funky. But with another a persons opinion it made sense really. There was several times where it seemed that Alexa needed another opinion on just about everything. Of course she was all for funky, new, and creative but she still cared whether it looked stupid or not. It made a difference really. "I actually like the idea about the loose shirt with the high waisted shorts. It kind of says 'I'm comfortable but still look hot enough for a day out." Alexa said as she made notes of it in her sketch pad. All the corners seemed to be just a mess of scribbles which probably on she would be able to decipher. Whenever she got an idea that she considered brilliant she had to write it down as quickly as possible before she completely lost it. She would often when in to trouble for not keeping a neat working space but after all, what was creativity if it had to be clean? Nothing I tell you, nothing. "And the knee highs? Totally perfect, but what about a leather pump instead. An animal print maybe. Something that will really stand out to the rest of the outfit. Oh and a white leather bag for sure.." Alexa nodded at her own words as she scribbled more jibberish on the paper.
Sure there was times where Alexa came of as a cocky bitch who thought way too highly of her herself. She couldn't help but be confident in herself and if that annoyed people then to hell with them because honestly she didn't care... Okay so maybe she cared a little bit but with all the shit that people get told these days she knew that she wouldn't have it. Some people were just 'bullies' to say it nicely but here at St. Thomas is was just frankly said as bitch. Why bother beating around the bush anyways. Alexa was blunt as much as any human being could be. Even if it got on people's nerves. Some people thought life was just another stupid teen movie. Well it really wasn't just for their information. There was a huge difference between her reality and other kids' reality. Life was too short to not say what was on her mind. Give life all you got, even if you crash a few times on your way. her father always told her. And she had lived by that for such a long time now.
Álexa was actually completely surprised how many more ideas she now had thanks to Bryonie.. When she had first started this project way ahead of class she was basically out of fresh ideas since her last project. Yes she had done extremely well on it but it seemed that everything now was just so unoriginal these days. It was like everyone had the same ideas now and no one could try to be just a little bit different, and thinking outside the box was a sure a lot harder than people thought it was. But that was what this class was all about. Creativity and originality and somehow Bryonie had actually helped get some more of both those things. She had not even noticed that she had completely space, gladly the other girl's voice broke her thoughts when she asked if she had any other ideas to share with her. Alexa looked down at the sketch pad, trying to interpret some other things she had written. Something was bugging Alexa, a small voice in the back of her head kept telling her that this needed just a little bit more. Something completely spontaneous. Frustrated by the lack of inspiration she threw her pencil down. "We're missing something. All this is something you'd see in a department store catalog. We need something that would look effing amazing on the catwalk."

i'm bringing sassy back and everything that you thought - YOU CAN'T FORGET CAUSE Y'ALL KNOW NOTHING BUT MY NAME AND I DON'T WANNA HEAR ABOUT PEOPLE - I DON'T KNOW NOT YOU NOT HIM NOT HER NO YOU ONLY SEE WHAT I LET YOU SEE NOTHING LESS NOTHINGMORE WHAT YOU SAY IS NOTHING NEW TO ME. and bryonie figured that maybe, this wouldn't be so bad. maybe this partnership would work. maybe the tension between them was exactly what the best working pair needed. they didn't get along so they wouldn't be obliged to automatically agree with each others ideas to protect feelings, they would just tell each other straight if they had a bad idea. and if either had a good idea, then you could be damn sure it was a good idea when both agreed. it was always nice to have a second opinion. bryonie had her own sense of fashion and some people thought it was a little bit 'out there', whatever that meant, but bryonie was comfortable with it. but when it came to design class, she was always a little more .. shy about her style. she wanted second opinions to make sure everything was okay, she was more self concious in design class. not of the clothes she was wearing, but of the clothes she was making. she wanted everyone to like them, she wanted other people in the class to think 'damn, i wish i'd thought of that' because that was how the world of fashion worked. it was having a good idea and having it first, but only as long as other people liked it. that was the key.
and alexa seemed to like what bryonie had suggested. bryonie guessed that between the two of them, they could create a whole range of summer clothes and they would all be amazing. damn, if only she could stand working with her long enough to do that, they'd be rich. except, bryonie couldn't stand working with her for that long. sure, they were working fine now, but bryonie knew it wouldn't last long. as soon as the project was over - hell, as soon as they left the design classroom, their little partnership would end. they had no reason to be nice to each other out side of the classroom, unless of course they were meeting up to discuss work. alexa was serious competition for bryonie, and vice versa. and both of them knew it. there was no point lying; both girls were good at what they did and in the future, they could end up being rival designers. it was entirely possible; st thomas had churned out famous designers and musicians and actors and photographers before, bryonie and alexa would just be names to add to that ever growing list.
however, for now, they were getting along just fine and sharing ideas and alexa was scribbling things down in her design book, and that could only be good. bryonie recognised that kind of frantic scribble; the kind you used when you had an idea so good you had to keep hold of it and tie it down. and sure enough, when bryonie asked if she had anything else to add, any more ideas, alexa didn't disappoint. and unfortunately, bryonie agreed with her. there was something missing. you could see the outfit she had in her mind in any old department store and that was something she didn't want. in design class, you had to show something completely new, otherwise, what was the point? after all, designers didn't just copy everyone else, they made new things and new trends and that was what design class was about. "it is missing something .. but what?"
she frowned, not knowing what to add to the outfit. "i like the shoes and the bag, but what's missing?" bryonie's mind was in overload trying to figure out what she could add to the outfit without over running it, but her mind was drawing a blank. she was going to have to depend on alexa to come up with whatever the outfit was missing, something that didn't quite sit right in her mind, but something she was going to have to do none the less.[/blockquote][/blockquote] ALEXA SAWYER.
